A Notary Public is a person of proven Honesty and Integrity appointed by the California Secretary of State, to Serve the Public as an Impartial Witness.  The Notary Public's Basic Role is to be an unbiased third party, who Verifies the Identity of Signers of important documents, guaranteeing that the signer Personally Appeared before the Notary at the time of notarization.  Without competent Notaries Public, business & society would fall apart!   Every time someone buys or sells a house or property, gives powers of attorney to another person and in many other situations, documents need to be notarized.
